Do I Need a Specialist?
You will need a team of healthcare providers to help manage your condition that is affected by type 2 inflammation (T2I), particularly if you have more than one. Besides your primary care team, this may include one or more clinicians that specialize their practice based on the specific condition as well as those who focus on allergies and the immune system.1,2
- Primary care physician (PCP). This is your main doctor who will coordinate your overall care and refers you to specialists when needed.
- Allergist/immunologist. This doctor specializes in allergies, asthma, and immune system conditions. They perform allergy tests and prescribe treatments, including biologics.
- Pulmonologist. This is a lung specialist who treats breathing problems and helps manage conditions like asthma and COPD.
- Dermatologist. This a skin doctor who treats conditions like atopic dermatitis (eczema).
- ENT (ear, nose, and throat doctor). This doctor treats sinus problems, nasal allergies, and other upper airway issues like eosinophilic esophagitis and CRSwNP.
- Gastroenterologist. This digestive system specialist can help with food allergies and conditions like eosinophilic esophagitis.
- Nurses, nurse practitioners (NP), and physician associates (PA). These healthcare providers work closely with doctors to monitor your condition, potentially adjust treatments and help manage side effects.
